New podcast on deck

Remember how I said I had something like 53 songs all lined up? Well I cut that shit down to 26 or so because 53 is just way too damn many. I split the songs into two lists, one is more pop-oriented and the other is a bit more, I don't know, upbeat. Not that the first one is downbeat or anything. Anyway. I recorded the former today and I'll get it posted tonight (UPDATE - it's now posted). Here's the lineup:
  • Okkervil River - John Allyn Smith Sails
  • The Early Tapes - Betty & Thomas
  • Deer Tick - Dirty Dishes
  • Golden Dogs - Nineteen Hundred & Eighty-Five
  • Windmill - Plastic Pre-Flight Seats
  • St. Vincent - Jesus Saves, I Spend
  • Mobius Band - Hallie
  • Bishop Allen - The History of Excuses
  • Kevin Drew - Fucked Up Kid
  • Two Hours Traffic - Stuck for the Summer
  • Rilo Kiley - Silver Lining
  • Alberta Cross - Lucy Rider
  • Meiko - Piano Song
  • The 1900s - Two Ways
Just a couple weeks ago I actually got out of the house to go see a band in a club and it was just like I remembered. There was the hot and humid air, the smell of bear, the sweaty bodies, the drunk girl throwing up on the bar right next to me...good times all around (except for the puking girl, she sucked). The band was Okkervil River and the club was the Rock & Roll Hotel in NE DC. I hadn't been to this place before but I'm definitely going to go back. The band was fantastic and if you want, you can download the concert that I saw by subscribing to NPR's All Songs Considered podcast. They've got a bunch of other concerts available at that link as well.
